A Letter from Our Executive Director

A Letter from Our Executive Director

June 15, 2017 Letters from the ED 0

As another school year comes to an end, I find it humbling to reflect on how much we’ve grown as an organization and a community over the past three years.  In my first school year as Executive Director, we were able to serve just over 160 participants.  This year, we had over 240, a 27% increase from the 2014-2015 school year! This surge is a testament to your vision and dedication to serving youth throughout Seattle.

With a 90% student retention rate throughout the year, we know that this program is making a deep impact on our students. That’s why I’m proud to announce that for the second year in a row, we are celebrating a record number of CfY seniors graduating from high school with 27 seniors graduating this June.  Many of these seniors have plans to pursue higher education including the 61% who will be attending a two or four year college program this fall.

Yet graduation rates aren’t all we have to celebrate this year.  With 93% of students reporting they are proud to be part of CfY and 86% who feel that their participation in CfY will help them succeed in life, it is evident that through the dedication of our mentors, volunteers, donors, and staff WE ARE supporting our students to their fullest potential. THANK YOU!

Your continued support is making a difference for the future of our community.  Whether it is volunteering your time or making a financial investment in our program, you are making a difference. Our success this school year is possible because of our supporters like you.  We are beyond grateful for your investment in the youth of our community.  Your compassion is transforming lives in our community!

With Gratitude,

Mark Takehara
Executive Director
